My vision for this website is to have the book’s content here, accompanied by numerous links for more in-depth information and varying viewpoints because the book cannot possibly include all there is to know and to be said on such a plethora of subjects.
The concept of The Same Boat website being a directory-style information resource organized around the book’s content leads immediately to the idea for it to also be a social media platform for political discussion. The discussion / further information pages for each subject will include links for further research to clarify pertinent facts, varying positions and misunderstandings on every individual topic, particularly the most controversial ones. Such clarification and education is inherently necessary for (a hopefully continually increasing number of) Americans to be on the same proverbial page, both in general and regarding the factual information on specific issues. Without it we will continue to get closer to living in a dystopia increasingly similar to that of 1984.
Savvy implementation of surveys and AI will enable visitors to calculate a degree of general agreement with any other participant as well as on any specific selection of subjects.
Ultimately, The Same Boat website aims to become the go-to resource and platform which can help any number of Americans, hopefully tens of millions, to better understand that there is 1) far more which almost all of us agree upon than the opposite and 2) that it is vitally important for us to choose to make progress towards achieving agreed-upon common goals by pulling together instead of continuing to allow unprincipled politicians and the mainstream media to further foment dishonest, disingenuous, disrespectful, divisive and above all highly destructive rhetoric.
