Hi! I’m Mike. Mike Lasher. I sometimes go by Mike in Munich. I’m a 56 year-old American ex-pat who has been living in Munich since 1993. After 28 years as owner and operator of the well-known Mike’s Bike Tours, which literally has made me the best-known American living in Munich, for whatever that’s worth. 
I began thinking and writing about the political divisiveness in the USA in 2016 while waking my dogs, Brady a Labradoodle, and Neo, a beautiful Vzsla, may there innocent souls Rest In Peace. By 2019 I came up with the title The Same Boat and sussed-out my goals and purpose which I eventually formulated into my preface in early 2021. Then my friend Sandeep and I put together this website with the original outline of the book in early 2022 and I am only now in early 2024 finally putting it all together, but primarily into a PowerPoint / public speaking presentation which I will be giving in the fall at college campuses leading up to and after the election. The video material we cumulate on this somewhat extensive rod trip will be made into a documentary, be the book will only be completed and published after the 2024 election and it’s immediate aftermath have come to past. Certainly the need for a guide to heal the divide will be in as much need / demand then as it has been for years already. I do regret being so late in getting to where I’d prefer to be by now in March 2024, but its now or never, so it’s happening. Better late than never.
